Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy
Last Updated: August 16, 2025
Introduction
Clean Slate Hub is committed to upholding human rights and ethical labour practices. We strongly oppose all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking, and we take active steps to ensure these abuses have no place within our own operations or across our supply chains.
We recognize that modern slavery remains a global issue affecting millions of people and believe that businesses have a responsibility to help eradicate it.
Scope
This Policy applies to all employees, contractors, workers, volunteers, suppliers, and business partners of Clean Slate Hub.
What is Modern Slavery?
Modern slavery is an umbrella term covering practices such as:
- Human trafficking – the recruitment, transport, or harbouring of people through coercion or deception.
- Forced labour – work performed involuntarily under threat or coercion.
- Debt bondage – forcing individuals to work to repay debts under unfair or impossible terms.
- Exploitation of vulnerable workers – taking advantage of people who lack freedom, fair wages, or safe conditions.
Preventing Modern Slavery in Our Supply Chains
Clean Slate Hub is committed to ensuring that modern slavery has no place in our supply chains. To support this, we will:
- Risk Assessment – Evaluate the risk of modern slavery based on geography, industry, and type of products or services sourced.
- Supplier Standards – Select and work with suppliers who share our commitment to ethical labour practices and require them to confirm compliance with applicable laws.
- Monitoring and Audits – Conduct regular reviews and, where appropriate, audits of suppliers to ensure compliance with anti-slavery standards.
- Training – Provide employees, especially those involved in procurement and supplier management, with training on identifying and preventing modern slavery.
- Whistleblowing and Reporting – Encourage employees, contractors, and suppliers to report concerns about potential modern slavery through confidential reporting channels.
Preventing Modern Slavery in Our Own Business
We are equally committed to ensuring that modern slavery does not exist within Clean Slate Hub's own operations. Steps we take include:
- Ethical Recruitment Practices – All hiring is carried out transparently and in compliance with Canadian employment laws to ensure workers are engaged freely and fairly.
- Employee Awareness and Training – All staff receive awareness training to recognize and report signs of modern slavery.
- Safe Reporting Channels – Employees are encouraged to raise concerns about unethical practices without fear of retaliation.
Reporting and Transparency
We are committed to transparency and continuous improvement in addressing the risks of modern slavery. Each year, Clean Slate Hub will review and, if required, publish a statement outlining the steps taken to:
- Prevent modern slavery in our operations.
- Assess and address risks in our supply chains.
- Improve training, monitoring, and due diligence processes.
Conclusion
Clean Slate Hub believes that every person has the right to live and work free from slavery and exploitation. We will continue working with our employees, suppliers, and partners to uphold this commitment and contribute to the global effort to eradicate modern slavery.
